Providing year round sports programs for all school aged children in the Southwest neighborhoods of Minneapolis

About

The Southwest Activities Council (SWAC) was formed as an all volunteer organization to organize and administer Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board youth sports programs for the children in the southwest neighborhoods of Minneapolis.

SWAC programs use a a variety of facilities owned by the city: park fields and rinks, school gyms & stadiums, Parade Ice Garden and more.

SWAC believes in providing the safest envirornment for our kids. We want them to grow as players and as people. Our goal is for all SWAC participants to have positive experiences playing youth sports while building friendships, learning sports fundementals, and acquiring life skills such as teamwork and good sportsmanship. To that end, we look for volunteers who share our philoshophy of affirming each participant regardless of ability level, background, or age.

As a volunteer organization, we rely upon parents and others to make SWAC happen. Your time and talent is needed in many ways; as coaches, assistant coaches, and team managers, sports coordinators for the board, or just as an at large board member who would like to contribute to the future developemnt of SWAC. Please consider lending your talents when you sign your children up for sports by checking one of the volunteer boxes. See the park directors at either Linden Hills or Pershing Parks if you would like to come to a board meeting. We would love to have you.
