Track & Field

League Information

Boys and Girls: Compete against their own gender and in most cases, their own age group.

Ages: 9-18 years old

Age Groups (for meets): 9/10 year olds; 11/12 year olds; 13/14 year olds; 15-18 year olds

Practices Begin: In early to mid May (held at the Southwest High School track adjacent to Pershing Park)

Meets: Thursdays (tentative) - Late May through mid July (with City Finals) (held at Roosevelt High School)

Skill Level: All skills levels are welcome. Coaches will match players with similar skill levels.

Uniforms: Provided for all participants (if needed)

Equipment: Team equipment provided by SWAC.

Runners take your mark... Set... Go!!! Boys and Girls of all skill levels are welcome to participate in the MPRB's Youth Track & Field Program. Youth will have the opportunity to learn the skills involved in track and field and then compete at their own age level. It is a great opportunity to meet new friends and get into shape. Join the team today!

Youth Track & Field Program
Events include: shot put, long jump, high jump, turbo javelin, 100, 200, 400, 800, mile run, 4 x 100 and 4 x 400 relays.
Individuals can enter a maximum of 3 events. ( 2 running and 1 field or 2 fields and 1 running excluding 1 relay) The season will be comprised of 5 regular season meets City-Championship Meet will be offered to those who qualify

The Southwest Activities Council (SWAC) was formed as an all volunteer organization to organize and administer Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board youth sports programs for the children in the southwest neighborhoods of Minneapolis.
